Cross-browser issues
Site looks perfect in Firefox but is looks crappy on Internet Explorer
You actually have to deal with cross-browser/cross-platform issues during development. Not everyone in the world is using the same browser as you do. Some can’t let go using IE, and others enjoys viewing from Safari through iPhone, while you’re developing under Chrome, Opera or probably under Firefox… and you have to accommodate each of them.
When checking on your page’s display on different browsers, you might find “BrowserShots” useful, and when you think something’s wrong. Let me know!
HTML/CSS validation
It’s a cliche^. Webmasters use that alibi for them to have another avenue to earn more.
If you don’t hang around webmaster circles, you may not realise that HTML validation and CSS validation are controversial issues with some people, and the above quote are few response from the forum I’ve been. Few reasons to make yoursite HTML/CSS valid are as follows:
- It alleviates cross-browser and future compatibility issues
- Better Search engine visibility
- Professionalism
- Maintainability for the future developers
There are HTML and CSS validators that exists around the web, and I use few of them to check my codes, and you can find this useful too. If you’re reaching the point that errors reaches a hundred or more, and you feel you don’t want to punish yourself trying to fix the validation issue and break your web, then feel free to reach me!
